| Project Title: | Magnetically Driven Colloidal Superstructures and their Dynamics |
| Abstract of Project : | |
| Colloidal self-assembly of complex structures out of simple colloidal building blocks is one of the backbones of nano science and nano technology. This superstructure has practical applications in spintronics, structural color printing, photonics, bio-sensors, chiral colloids etc. During my Fulbright project I hope to develop a simple technique to demonstrate colloidal superstructures of magnetic and non-magnetic components in a magnetic fluid using gradient magnetic field. This project has wide implications as Nature utilizes self-assembly to synthesize an enormous range of structures from galaxies to biomolecular assemblies on the nanoscale such as DNA. | |
